Who am I? Where do I come from? These are both questions that have plagued mankind for centuries. Though they may seem simple enough, many of us don’t know the answers. The Faith card however, calls on us to find out.
One could say that the motto of the Faith card is “If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it.” Obviously, genetics play a large part of who we are; but even so, we are still a product of the environment we came from. The beliefs, values, and traditions of our families and communities affect us far more than we realize. The Faith card encourages us to explore our own rich heritage; and to trust that the foundations of the past will help us to build a better future.
Though many of us think of our culture as only including our personal lives, we participate in a work culture as well. Most businesses have a set of core values and beliefs, as well as systems and procedures that are in place for everyone to follow. If you look, they often have materials to teach new employees about the “heritage” and “traditions” of the business. Pictures and stories detailing people, places, and events important to the rise and growth of the company. Now is a great time to become more involved and actively learn and participate in your work culture.
In some cases, you may truly have no heritage you can learn about. If so, don’t be afraid to start your own new traditions, and be the first of a new culture.
